Itinerary :
- 8:00 AM: Depart from Marrakech
The best time to leave Marrakech for Essaouira is early in the morning, around 9:00 AM, to avoid traffic and crowds. You can either hire a taxi, take a bus or join a tour group.
- 10:30 AM: Arrive in Essaouira
Upon arriving, take a stroll through the city’s narrow lanes and visit the old medina’s souks, where you can find local crafts, spices, and souvenirs. Don’t forget to take a visit to the Skala de la Ville, a historic fortification that’s one of Essaouira’s most recognizable landmarks.
- 1:00 PM: Lunchtime
For lunch, try out the local seafood dishes. Essaouira is renowned for its fresh fish and seafood, which is served in its markets and restaurants. Come to the port area and you’ll see dozens of small restaurants serving up grilled fish, shrimp, and other dishes.
- 3:00 PM: Walking Tour
Take a walking tour guided by one of the locals or via a tour company that can lead you through the city’s picturesque sites. Tour places like the Mellah (the Jewish District), the traditional carpet workshops, and the art galleries.
